MDA's UAV Services allow for continuous and covert monitoring of oil and gas infrastructure.
- Monitor right of way (ROW) and detect leaks with a wide variety of sensors such as High Definition cameras:
- Identify regions of vegetation overgrowth
- Detect erosion near pipelines
- Monitor human activities—such as construction—near pipelines that could affect the ROW
- Detect stains or other evidence of leaks such as stressed vegetation
- Monitor suspect activities 24 hours per day, unseen and unheard by perpetrators on the ground:
- Identify damage to the pipeline cause by third parties
- Collect evidence by identifying, observing, recording and following bunkering and other illegal activities to support prosecution activities
- Monitor ice-flows near off-shore platforms:
- The aircraft can be launched only when needed
- Because the aircraft is unmanned, there is no need to have a rescue team and aircraft on standby
- Because there is no risk to aircraft crew, the UAV can fly further afield
